What is Virtual Compute Environment™?

Commodity hardware has been decreasing in price and increasing in performance yearly. The level of performance now available in commodity hardware is sufficient for many workloads. As each server is typically sized for peak load, there is often excess capacity available that cannot be used by other applications in the data center.

The 3Leaf Systems Virtual Computing Environment™ enables the dynamic allocation of commodity server resources in a manner transparent to existing operating systems, applications, data center operations, and security paradigms.

The first product, the V-8000 Virtual I/O Server, replaces each compute node’s storage and network I/O with a single, high speed, redundant, and fault tolerant fabric, converting each compute node into a diskless and stateless commodity server with centrally managed bandwidth. Thus, each compute node costs far less to put into service, allows for better control of network bandwidth, and is more flexible, robust, and reliable.
